think I figured it out

I zoomed way in and I think I understand what you're talking about. The one you chose has a sun flare action on it so there is a "sun flare" across your face giving it that soft look. It's not blurry it is supposed to be that way with this action. The other is normal. I think we should switch the pic out to the normal one. Also, the pearl paper has little tiny pearl dots that make it shiny. This in combination with the "sunflare" maybe gave you more of the "blurry " look. I will give you a call when I get the invite.
